Ekta Mam has being supportive and encouraging from the beginning

Prachi Desai became a household name after playing Bani, in the hit soap, Kasamh Se. She went on to win a million hearts as well as the title in Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

Now, the actress understandably wants more, and has made the shift to Bollywood. Her first film will be Rock On, costarring Farhan Akhtar, in his debut acting role. Rajul Hegde talks to Prachi about her plans:

Are you quitting television?

I want to make it to clear that I am not quitting television. That is my first love. But I will take a break for some time. I am on contract, which says that I cannot be seen on television until Rock On is released. I also cannot work for the film and Kasamh Se at the same time. They want me to concentrate on the film and then give me in a new look.

What will happen to Kasamh Se?

I have already shot for Kasamh Se; there is a bank of episodes. Balaji Telefilmshas not yet decided about my replacement but they will definitely replace me, as they cannot wait until I finish my film. By the time the film is done, Kasamh Se may take another generation leap, you never know! I will shoot for Kasamh Se until the end of January.

Have you started shooting for Rock On?

I will start shooting for Rock On from February, in Mumbai. I don't know how long the shooting schedule will last. Even after that, I will not be able to return to television until the film is released.

Will you come back after the film's release?

Right now, I cannot tell you anything. Once the film is out, I am free to do anything. I hope Rock On does well.

How did you get the role in Rock On?

I auditioned for this role just before the Jhalak Dikhla Jaa finals, and got selected. I cannot say anything more about the film.

The selection was fair and the best, the critics are advised to accept this fair game.

Prachi Desai, well poular by the name of Bani in Kasam Se, won the Sony Tv’s popular celebrity dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa’ after defeating the other two finalists Sandhya Mridul and Jay Bhanushali on 15 Dec. rightly and fairly.

She is being criticised by certain quarters that the result is not fair, they thought it would have gone to Sandhya Mridul. Their grounds do not seem to be justified, it is the public which is the final Judge and the cricits must respect the public opinion.

Prachi, in fact, was not selected since she claimed to be daughter-in-law of the State as the critics feel but also due to her super performance, being the most befitting figure for the dance she chose and exhibited, and also due to her movements, which were dazzling. and simply amazing. It was not possible for anyone else to beat her.

Moreover, she enjoyed much more popularity due to her serial Kasam Se and that was also the main reason of her being voted by the public in view of her best performance before the audience.

It is to remind that after getting eliminated, Prachi managed to enter the dance competition again through ‘Wild Card Entry Call’ and she thanked the audience for her come back.

The young, ravishing Bani of Kasam Se impressed the jury as well as the viewers through her powerful performances.

She got the highest votes, and declared as the winner Of Jhalak Dikhla Jaa-2.

The judges including Shiamak Davar and Urmila Matondkar seemed to favor Sandhya Mridul, but Prachi won the ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ title thanks to audience votes.

This ‘Balaji girl’ has now started receiving offers from Bollywood. She also confirmed about her debut movie with director Farhan Akhtar.
Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, the celebrity judges of the day, declared winner’s name and presented the trophy amidst fanfare.
Now, Prachi is back to her work.

People in general seem quite ignorant. Now that Prachi has won, some people have started saying Ekta Kapoor has a hand in this, so according to these same fools Ekta was also responsible for bringing Prachi back in the fray, IT IS THRU WILD CARD THAT SHE CAME BACK AND SHEER TALENTS AND HER CHARISMA AS A TOTAL PERF0RMER AND CHARM THAT SHE HAS WON.

not tht prachi wasnt a good dancer, which she was. but its kindpf obvious tht ekta had big role to play in all this. come on, there was never such a hue and cry when anyother and much better dancers were eliminated. for example suhda, which i feel was a better ancer than her!!! and even ronit roy! and sandhya was clearly the better dancer, all te judges thought so too, so it cant just be a coinsidence. its very unfair to sandhya!!!

SANDHYA is a loser, not only because she lost out to Prachi, but more so due to her negative attitude. She has always come across as very arrogant and cheap, when I saw her for the first time in Aashirwaad-I had thought the role demanded this look, but soon I realised she just has it in her own personality-she is just too haughty, cold and arrogant. Even during her dancing she had this scowl/frown on her face. PRACHI IS A TRUE WINNER. Prachi always looked like she was enjoying herself, her facial expressions always matched her enthusiastic dancing. So this is what we the audience saw in her, not just that she is the Bani from Kasam se. So for Sandhya and some of the others to harp on this is just nonsense and frustration, anger and a case of sour grapes for not winning.
So Sandhya snap out of this false thought process and accept that Prachi is definitely a much better dancer, performer, more talented and good looker too. SHE JUST HAS IT ALL, OK !!. And it comes across to ONE AND ALL. No wonder she has bagged the heroine's role with Farhan Akhtar in ROCK ON. Next you will say again she is getting all this because she is known as Bani.

Ekta celebrated the Prachi Desai's party with the sucess of her 2 serials.
This time the code dress for the party is PINK and most of the stars are in pink tag.The dress code was pink, and 90 per cent of Ekta’s guests diligently obeyed. ketaki and rasik dave her husband danced all the night.anuj saxena came for few minutes because he had to go europe for the tour.

Prachi used four days for prepration of jhalak dikhhla jaa finals. Ekta kapoor granted her leave and gave full blessing.

Prachi Desai’s mother says, For Jay Bhanushali, the going is tough. He says, “Balaji did give me a four-day leave last week. However, I haven’t been so lucky this week. My unit members give me special treatment and finish my shots.”

Meanwhile, Prachi Desai says, “Balaji has been extremely encouraging and Ekta has supported me whole-heartedly. In fact when Ekta saw me unwell, she gave me one more day off.”

On her debut film: "I am excited about doing a film and that too with someone like Farhan Akhtar. When the call came from his production house, I just couldn't believe my luck. On her comeback in a reality show and lukewarm colleagues: "I was glad to make a comeback in the dance reality show in which I am participating these days. On her Ekta connect: "Yes, I am very close to Ekta Kapoor and she's encouraging me to surge ahead in life but I don't like the rumours claiming that she's 'pushing' for my win in the reality show. After a point, nobody except the audience can help you."

Missing out on fun and college life: "I am doing BA part I from Mithibai College, Mumbai, but haven't been able to attend the classes this year. Of course I miss the cool ambience of the college, but then how many people get to enjoy the kinda popularity that I am enjoying at this age."

On sensuality & bold scenes: "I know Bollywood demands a lot of sensuality on screen, along with smooching scenes. But I am not comfortable with these things at this particular juncture. Later, I might change my stand but as of now that's how I feel."

On the current Bollywood heartthrob: "It's John and only John who makes my jia go dhadak-dhadak, although earlier I had a huge crush on Hrithik Roshan! Shah Rukh and Aamir are also quite cool."

On flirting: "I have always said that flirting doesn't interest me because firstly I don't have the time and secondly no inclination either, but if guys take this statement seriously, I would be really disappointed (giggles)."

A twist in the tale came when the public voted her out and she was eliminated from the show earlier on despite being the best performer.

Not only that, Ekta Kapoor, a tough taskmaster, granted her just four days' break from 'Kkasam Se' to prepare for the 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' finals.

Ekta, however, refused the same kindness to Jay, who plays the main lead in her serial 'Kayamath'.

Last-minute dramatic changes in the verdict are nothing new.
