Kyaa Kool Hai Hum
While Ekta Kapoor's killer serials on the idiot box have been inflicting much mental trauma, for the big screen, she goes the 'serial killer' way. Karan (Riteish Deshmukh) and Rahul (Tusshar Kapoor) are wannabe cool dudes.
There's a serial killer on the loose. Dr. Screwvala (Anupam Kher), who's actually a nutcase, is put in charge of the case. Rahul is mistaken to be the killer. Enter Inspector Urmila Maar-todkar (Isha Koppikar) who is a pain in the ass for every smart-ass. She bolts with Screwvala to solve the case. And a comedy of errors - in fact an erroneous comedy follows. Meanwhile Karan gets into a happy and gay love liaison.
He is happy until he finds that his love is gay. Director Sangeeth Sivan takes the less-traversed path in Bollywood of implied humour garnished with non-veg jokes. Suggestive comedy can be an entertaining genre if handled well. Not that KKHH is a masterpiece sex-comedy but it has its moments of laughter. At times, the movie even goes from visually vulgar to grammatically garish. But barring some scenes, KKHH is enjoyable with a light-hearted open mind. With a 'til-on-her-dil' funda, the camera has plenty of excuses to capture Isha Koppikar's cleavage.
But all her oomph falls flat the moment she opens her mouth with her ghati Marathi dialect. Sex appeal khallas! Anupam Kher who gets sufficient screen footage after quite a long time almost plays a caricature. Tusshar Kapoor plays the dumb-head and for that he doesn't have to try to hard. But has he promised sister Ekta a cowboy song in every film?
Finally, it's Riteish Deshmukh, with his poker-faced deadpan expressions, who succeeds in making you laugh for the major part of the movie. If you plan to savour some non-veg 'masti' for the weekend, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum is your cup of kool drink. Just ensure you leave your mom and dad at home to avoid embarrassment.
