Marjorie Scardino was President of the Economist Newspaper Group

Dame Marjorie has been Chief Executive of Pearson, the international education and media business made up of Pearson Education, Penguin and the Financial Times Group, since 1997. Between 1985 and 1997 she was successively President of the Economist Newspaper Group Inc. and Chief Executive of the Economist Group. Prior to 1985, she was a partner in a law firm in Savannah, Georgia, and founded and published the Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper, The Georgia Gazette. She is a non-executive director of Nokia Corporation and a member of a number of charitable and advisory boards, including The MacArthur Foundation and The Carter Center.Scardino is married to journalist Albert Scardino; the Scardinos have three children.
